Synopsis
In a city with no sun, a Queen and an Assassin become each other's light.
Victim of dangerous rumors and engaged to a man who admits that he could never love her, Queen Azalea struggles to accept that she will never know anything but the darkness of her underground kingdom, Aleshore. When her treasured hairpin is stolen, she hits her breaking point and writes a desperate letter to the thief, not at all expecting a response, let alone a connection.
Given a mission that could change the world, Solis naturally blends into the shadows of Aleshore. His mission is to gather political and military information, then end Queen Azalea’s life. He poses as a thief named Shaoye, then exploits Azalea’s weaknesses through secret letters and midnight sword fights. Yet, obsession and admiration grow with every meeting. The mission begins to loom over his head. If Solis does not betray and kill Azalea then his family, his last tie to humanity, will suffer in her place.
Forbidden romance meets royal intrigue in Daisy Alexander’s indie debut. Skyless City offers a haunting yet hopeful atmosphere for fans of Fallen London, A Study in Drowning, and A Far Wilder Magic.
